Ok, ive spent a ton of time reading about break in procedures for new engines however I am sill a bit confused.

Heres the deal I had a new bottom end built up new block, forged everything and moly rings, but I am reuseing the old cam and lifters (yes they are in the correct order.

Some have said that moly rings seat themselves when you are rotating the engine during assembly (or to varying extents however usually very quick) also do i still need to use "eos" and where could I pick some up. How long should I run it before driving it, and I would assume to still go very easy on it for the first 1000 miles or so.

Whatever insight you guys have in breaking in this would be is much appreciated,

If you are using the old cam and lifters, you are way ahead of the game. The Moly Rings will be seated as soon as you start the engine if the cylinder walls were properly finished. I would just drive it "gently" for the first couple of hundred miles, then change the oil and filter. After that do whatever you want. EOS can't hurt in a new engine. It helps "fortify" the oil some. Almost any GM dealer should have it. If that is inconvenient, STP oil treatment is very similar and available almost anywhere, I even think my grocery store has it on the shelf

Sounds great, but one thing I forgot to ad is that it had a gear drive on it so will that affect anything, and when should the first few oil changes be.

Personally, I like to run the engine about an hour. Then change the oil and filter. AT that time I always cut the filter open to look for anything unusual, like bearing material. Once you do this initial oil change, there is no reason not to go to your normal oil change interval, whatever you prefer.
