Column or console shift? May just need adjustment. I am in the process of doing this conversion myself but need a shift bracket that atatches to the trans. I have a column shift right now and was wondering if the console bracket is the same as the column?

The shifter and cable should be the same. You do need the correct cable bracket (which bolts at the tranny pan) and shift lever (the one bolted to the tranny). If the person doing the original conversion didn't get the right part, then that could be the problem. Many suppliers offer conversion kits (Year One and D&R for sure). Otherwise it could be adjustment. For the floor shift there's some adjustment where the cable attaches. I'm not sure how the column shift adjusts. CA420: I'm pretty sure you'll need a different bracket, but any supplier with a good tech support line should be able to say so for sure.

pg 374 of the Year One catalog has pictures of each cable bracket so you could tell if you have the right one. Everyone should own this catalog (if you don't already). But I've got a feeling... if they used the old PowerGlide bracket then it probably only has one pan bolt in it (because the bolt patterns are different PG vs. 350). If that part is correct then try the adjustment at the shift lever.

There is also an adjustment at the base of the shifter horseshoe where the cable attaches to it, under the console shift indicator cover. On my '69 TH 350 the cable bracket bolts to the side of the trans, and not the pan bolts.

CA420: The column shift bracket at the trans is different. The floor shif cable bracket has an additional hole that the cable attaches to. The levers will remain because they work the column lock.
