What are the symptoms of a manifold leak? The gasket at the head looks normal when engine is cold but when it warms up, looks oily. If I stomp on the accelorator from a dead stop it pops or backfires.
Thanks for the advice.

for starters, get a can of spray carb cleaner(with the little jet hose)and spray around the manifold gaskets and other likely vaccum leak spots.if you hear the engine bog,you have probably found a leak.make sure you arent overspraying into the carb as it will have the same results.
sounds like timing tho!
good luck!

Thanks, sounds like a good ideal. I think you are right about the timing, I still have a point type ignition. I know I can upgade the point type to electronic with "Pertronix Ignitor" but I don't know if it is any good.

Thanks again!
