I am looking for people who have original 396 engines in their cars. I need to know what valve covers originally came on these engines. I know they're chrome, and the 375 horse cars had the drippers. What I am looking for is what kind of angle the rear of the drivers side cover is set at. Amy help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave.

I have got a set of BB valve covers with the angle on the back side. I have no idea what they are off of, but I would be happy to take a digital picture of them and email it to you. If you want me to do that just email your address to rmackirdy@home.com

What Dave Birdwell is getting at is to determine if the Camaro Big Blocks w/ slanted covers (to clear the brake booster, yes) were OE.

Vette BB need the slant due to reduced compartment clearance.

I have a 70 Chevelle SS396 and have been told that the slanted covers didn't come with Chevelle BB because there is plenty of clearance as is. Sure enough, the repro set I have (w/o slant) fit fine.

Thanks, guys! I'm looking for Camaro covers, I know the ones they try to push off on us with the rear corner lopped off were for Corvettes. Chevelles used a regular straight cover. The ones sold by Trans-Dapt are basically Chevelle covers without the drippers. The cover I have, the rear of the driver's side cover leans forward. The whole end leans, but isn't cut off like a Vette cover.

Thanks again,

Dave
