Hi, I have a 67 327 that I am in the middle of re-building. When I picked up the motor it was just the block and heads and intake manifold. I am getting close to being done and am working on the oil filter plate. Now I guess there is a by-pass valve ?? that is suppose to be before the bracket with the two bolts that the oil filter screws into. I guess I am a little confused and have never seen one before. When I went to the parts store they have the adaptor plate that bolts in … but they do not have the by-pass valve…I am suppose to use the old one.. Is this all true?... If so I guess I am on a search to the junk yard ?? .. Anybody know were ells to look?.. Thanks.

You have an early block. You need the origonal piece that bolts to the block (the bypass is in the piece) and the filter can. If you want to use a spin on filter make sure you get the adaptor for an early block.
