hi,

on my new 355ci (see sig) i pulled the sparkplugs and noticed on every plug oil on the threads, i cant see any oil leaking from the valve covers.

I dont think it leaks oil into the cylinders, i mean, not on all 8 cylinders.

the top of the plugs were a little black, but i think its because of the new carb is idling a little rich, the tips were dry but black.

what do you guys think it can be?

take care

Well, on my Accel 576's, there SHOULD be oil on say, the first three threads... also, a little black is NOT an issue in my opinion, only because I personally believe it is better to run a little rich, gas prices not withstanding. If you are thinking it is oil, then do a compression test, make sure carb is fully opened, just wedge a screwdriver under the throttle linkage with the return spring off, use a bump starter, count the same number of compression cycles on each cylinder, say five. Compare reading, yours should prolly be around 160 to 170 for each cylinder, with no more than about %10 difference from the average for any one cylinder. Do you ever have a little puff of blue smoke come out when you first start the engine after it has sat awhile?

Oh, I forgot, go to this site:
