hey all, i went to check the tranny and the tranny oil pan is not the shape if texas. the guy who i bought it from assured me it was a 400. are there any standard stampings on all the trannys to figure out what it is and where it came from?----- where can i find the stampings? there is no way i can get a hold of the guy who sold it to me to ask at least, so i'm on me own, with you experts here. hope you can help. also, my 68 was an original 327. the guy also put a 350eng. where are the stampings on a 350 motor to figure out where it came from? thanks in advance...Cabrera

If it has a kickdown cable and the modulator in the back its a 350. If it has any kind of cable it is not a 400 they all had electrical kickdowns.

Look on the back of the block (where it attaches to the tranny on the passenger side and you can get the casting number of the block. Once you have that casting number either post it on here or look it up and you can see where the engine came from (or at least get an idea). Sorry I can't help with the tranny issue without seeing it. Sounds like Oger made it pretty simple to figure out.
