I have a 68 RS 327-325hp non numbers match with factory air, disc brakes, power steering and deluxe houndstooth interior. My powerglide is beyond repair and I am considering switching to a TH-350 and a floor shift with a console. The car was originally a V-8 and I have been told that the column shift is a rarity.Any info would be appreciated.

Shannon, Figures I have are as follows: # of '69 V8's = 191,000, # of powerglides = 79k, # of floor shifters = 25,586. (from Camaro Restoration Guide, Jason Scott.

What ever your preferance, I went from a colum shift to floor shift on my 68, worked out realy well, save the parts and if you want to sell the car you have the parts to put it back to original. If you do the swap you will find that the floor above the transmission has several dimples. These are the mounting location for the shifter and console. Good Luck

I have sucessfully switched to a th-350 floor shift and it is working out well. I have saved all of the parts to put it back to original if I or someone else decides to down the road.
