Please help me refocus. I’ve been doing a lot of research in to different areas to work on the restoration of my 67 Camaro coupe. The initial purchase of the car was going to be a basic restoration with some minor suspension and interior enhancements. Since I purchased the vehicle and it has been colder than crap, I’ve been doing more research than work. Slowly I have had grand ideas to do a LS1 conversion as well. This morning I think I just went off the deep end. I know if I start going down this path I’ll never get this project off the ground.

I saw this listing on Ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=7946299460

Now all I can think about is the 50/50 conversion that I read about. Can’t find the site right now but I know I will… Can someone please pinch me and bring back to reality!!! I really need to finish up my budget and list out the areas I really need to work on.

Even better, someone buy this quick so I won’t have the temptation. Let the bashing begin!!!

Buck.... and real easy way to give YOURSELF a reality check is to open your wallet, open your wifes purse, take a look at your bank accounts and other assets and then decide.

That setup on eBay is a tiny fraction of the cost of doing what you're thinking of doing. But if it's what you want, I'm sure Super Chevy and Chevy High Performance won't give you a cold shoulder when it's done.

Target price of $2800 and $250 shipping seems too good to be true to me. That said lets see where the auction goes. Reflect on what level of restorations and conversions you have undertaken before. It's one thing to drop the LS1 into the engine bay, a totally different thing to re-engineer the car and retrofit it with the vette drive line. If you have extensive fabricating skills and access to the tools necessary to make something like this come together then go for it. If this is your first shot at restoring a car and you have never fabricated a part before this wouldn't be the best choice in projects...

Buck! That would be SOOO cool... but... It's gonna cost you 20 grand to do it with the whole driveline, and you won't have a backseat when you're done, you'll have a torque converter instead.

I dunno... I like Camaro's just fine the way they made them

ya i think that would be cool...but it is almost not "classic" or "vintagey" anymore...in my opinion anyways. If u just stick to the orginal stuff it will be less money, and still AWESOME like always.

I guess you mean project 50/50 by Tyler Beauregard, this is his website:

http://www.t56kit.com/site.html

He also frequents the pro-touring website a lot. I think that if enyone can give you a reality check it's gonne be him.

Hey Paul, get your head out of your butt! It's a good idea but an expensive one. I have a shop that can do the C-5 swap for you, got about 20K? Thats not including finishing up the car either. You have a darn good start in your garage. I would stick with what you have first. Lets get the body and suspension done first then we will work on the powertrain. The LS1 would be a nice addition, with a 4L60E or 5 speed. I know how it is, your mind goes wild with the "what ifs". It will drive you crazy.

Joe says drooling......LS1 and 4L60E......wipes slobber from face and chin.

Buck get you head out of your........and get to work on that car!! No matter what you do, even if you just made it run and drive the hell out of it (hey that's what I am doing) you will still have one of the coolest cars on the block. Even when they look like crap like mine they are still admired. They don't have tobe a 50/50 to be cool, although that 50/50 is pretty darn cool.
