Question

I am looking for the correct wiring of a battery charging guage in a camaro console. Its either one wire to the alt. and the other to the pos. side of the battery, or one to a + wire and the other to ground.

It's definately not ground. Has to be alt + to bat. You are measuring the voltage difference between those points. And the gage determines amps from that. That way smaller wires are used.
The wire from the gage probably runs up to the horn relay. The horn relay goes from there to a junction stud right next to the battery.
I have a 67 manual but it does not show optional gages.
Perhaps a later year does.
