I want to install a quality starter, to eliminate the "hot start" issue.

Is the mini starter the way to go? Who makes a good one? Delco? Where do I buy it? Do all 1969 350 motors use the same starter?

The CVR/Pro-Torque mini starter that Summit sells is a great little starter at a good price.

It fits both flexplate/flywheel sizes, and can be rotated for clearance issues. I always turn them 180* for both small and big blocks from the way they arrive.
They fit any block that has mounting holes "straight across".

I had a friend pickup a mini starter from a 99 GMC Yukon at a salvage yard for $30.00 & it starts my 396 hot like it has no compression.It is a AC Delco Brand.

Do all 1969 350/300 HP blocks use the same starter?

There a 2 different starters. One for 4speed cars and one for automatics. The nose cone is the difference. I cant recall the numbers right now.

Mine is an automatic car (HB code engine).

The difference I read about are:

1 - "Staggered" or "straight" mount
2 - 153 or 168 tooth flywheel

Anybody know what I have?

Manual trans car starters are mounted with bolts staggered. Auto trans, the bolts are straight across from each other.

1108338 is one number that comes to mind for the correct auto starter.

1108361 or 1108367 are also starters that come to mind and I think are the 4spd starters.

That's if you are concerned with numbers. If not, there are thousands of starters out there (rebuilt or new) that would work.
