I ran into my first problem with the doors tonight.
Seems they don't want to open. I grabbed the wiring diagram and according to the troubleshooting guide the circuit breaker is dead. I get no voltage with the volt meter from the orange wire to a ground. I assume that denotes a faulty circuit breaker. There is power to some of the other relay connectors and at the horn relay. If my logic is correct does anyone know where to source a 10amp replacement circuit breaker? I guess it would also be a good time to swap all three relays while I am at it too. As a side question, what do you guys use to clean the electrical connectors? I have been using some 400 grit wet/dry but I was wondering if there was an easier way. Thanks! Chris....I am not familiar with the exacting type of circuit breaker for these doors. Are these contained within the fuse panel or inline or bulkhead mounted or what? There are alot of automotive breakers at parts stores and I believe Ron Francic Wiring carries alot of mountable ones etc.
Many PepBoys carry inline fuse holders that small type breakers will fit into as well. On your cleaning of terminals. If you can find em I use a sharp typing eraser for most. Even ordinary erasers can be useed too. |

Steve, thanks for the eraser tip.
I did a search and awhile back Bret came up with this web page for the circuit breaker. RS Circuit Breaker It looks exactly like the original except the original bracket has two mounting holes. I am going to see if Napa can cross the number. |

Well, well. I called Del City and there a $25 min order amount. Guess I am back to square one.
Any other suggestions? |

I just got off the phone with Rick's and they now carry an 8AMP breaker it's PN SW-35 @ $9.99.
Since the original was a 10AMP will I have any issues using an 8AMP instead? |

C-funk,
I didn't have any luck at the local NAPA. I did manage to find a local source for the Cole Herse cb mentioned here: David Pozzi's suggestion I picked up one for myself and a couple more for johnnyr. Three for $10! Let me know if you can't find one locally. |

Well Chris......ah....er....yasee....the answer is that the circuit breaker is 10 amps for a reason? So, I would not use an 8 amp because with higher voltage producing alternators of today's upgrades, the amperage can easily go up as well since the motor is a fixed resistance/impedence.
The downside of 8amp is that it can continue to pop and reset. I would go for a 10amp plug in style and convert the wiring...PEP BOYS has racks of this stuff. I would also go for a 12 or 15 amp before doing the 8 amp thing. You are trying to protect the wiring if the motor burns down. |
