Has anyone install a repo 69 Dash Instrument Panel. I noticed in several catalogs (i.e. Classic and D&R) that it was available but in Ricks it still list it as coming soon. If anyone has installed one did fit properly ?

I thought I bought one from Rick's about a year ago. I'll double check.
But there's two makes of repo dash pads that I've seen...one's good (not great)...about a 'B'. It has more details like faux stiching and the texture is close, but not perfect. The other piece is poor, about a D+. They're both about the same price, $175+/-. I'll do some digging and see if I can get you some details on where to get the better looking dash pad. |

I have seen the new OER dash carrier in person and it is a pretty good looking piece - much better than a original beat up dash, but not as good as an NOS dash. As far as I know, the dash has been available for the last several months.

Sleepy-69 I think he is refering to the dash gauge panel not the dash pad. I was wondering the same thing, does the repo gauge panel fit? I want to put an orginial radio back in and that seems to be the first step.

I have seen and touched the one from classic (oer). I didnt like it because I thought the texture and gloss of the finish of the plastic wasnt close. So I'm still shopping

I just replaced the new repo OER Dash Carrier in my 69 RS/SS. When I bought the car... it was already installed. It fit perfect... but I didn't like the finish. On a stock carrier, the smooth black plastic is black and glossy. On the OER, the plastic is a dull flat black. My suggestion would be to paint the new OER with a gloss black paint before you install it. The chrome trim was "acceptable". The speedo and fuel (or tach) lenses are another story. They are PURE JUNK!
I was able to find a clean used orginal. Not perfect... but much nicer than the repo. IMHO. BUT ... if you get the OER... it fits perfect (at least mine did). |

I referbished my carrier. On the shiny black parts, I used plastic polish restore their shiny luster -- I used a kit from NOVA. I can dig out the phone number, if interested. I redyed the grainy portions, and I think they came out great. For the chrome trim, I spent hours repainting them with a small brush, and pewter paint. Looked good, but I ended up having them rechromed by a guy in Columbus--Again I can supply the number, if interested. The chrome is a little "too" shiney, but I think you could dull it up a little with light steel wool or fine wet and dry, if you prefer.
