ia m in the process of recovering my seats. i got new springs and foam also. first, what should be used to replace the other cotton like material thats in there and the burlap?second when you hog ring the cover(around the pleats in the middle of the seat)do you go thru the foam AND on to the spring, or just onto the foam?

Always make sure the hog rings are grabbing onto something solid, not just foam or it will tear it. Take your time and if you miss the framing, cut the ring out and do it again. I've always re-used the cotton padding around the edges. It takes time and patience to get it to fit right, but if you bunch it up, you'll be able to see the bunched area when it's done, so make sure it's all even before attaching the rings.

all the padding in my seat was tottaly disintegrated,just fibers a lot of dust and acorns.do i need to put something back in or can i just use the foam? thanks

I'm not an expert on interiors, but I've done a couple that came out really good. Unfortunately, I've never had to use new foam or padding so I can't help you there. Since you have to attach the center section first with hog rings, when you go to attach the seat cover to the bottom frame, pull it as tight as you can and you should be able to tell if the new foam takes the place of the old padding. You'll know it looks right if the edges are all uniform in tightness and nice and smooth. Hopefully someone else can help out here.

i got the drivers seat done and it looks really good! i still have to do the other one. what about the rear seat, i haven't seen replacement foam anywhere. thanks for the tips.

I have to do mine too, mine are a wreck!

in the past the seats I have done turned out fine. (used the sun to heat them up and a hair dryer) the "burlap" you mentioned , is just that. burlap covers the springs to protect the foam from "punctures" and tears. you can pick it up by the Sq ft at any artsie fartsie store. for about .50c per sq ft. while your in there, check your springs and tack weld any that are loose, broken, and also paint the springs with a good rustproof paint. (your not in the seatframes that often so might as well get it done while your in there)

and you can always "patch foam" them back to achieve the correct hight. the foam for adding to the current foam pads is also available at any artsie fartsie store. I dont know the cost. but I have heard other Tech team members say that they have patched foam spots to fill lows or high spots.

I know those hogring pliers can be a bitch on the wrist after about 20 rings... hheheh good luck!
