On a 69:
When installing a 3-spoke Rosewood or Cushion-rim/"Comfort Grip" sttering wheel.

What parts are different between tilt and Non-tilt steering columns?

I just bought a complete Original Cushion-rim/"Comfort Grip" wheel assembly (Hub, horn kit, Buick Horns button, don't worry I'll replace the Buick horn cap). My guess it is for a standard column, but I don't know that for sure.

My car is currently standard column but I would like to install a tilt someday. I plan on installing this wheel right away, because it will look so cool sitting in the garage all winter.

What parts will I have to buy when I do get a tilt column?

I vaguely remember something about the turn signal lever having a slightly different bend, but I think that’s it.

I switched to tilt, and when I was at Ricks, I looked at the two levers. they are a slightly different angle, so rather than buy a new one, I bent mine a little by putting the flat end in a vice and tweaking it. Can't remember which way I bent it, though. When installed, the two levers should be parallel. Other than asthetics, I saw no reason for the different turn signal handles.

From the aspect of mounting the wheel, nothing...

But what about the horn parts?

All the repro sources list 2 different mounting/horn kits. One for tilt andone w/o.

What pieces are different?

Anyone know, and is it only for the functioning of the horn?

Thanks

Ok - I did some research and remembering a small problem I ran into years ago installing my cushion grip wheel, maybe I got the wrong kit... I ended up using the canceling cam that was in my tilt column when I removed the std wheel. The one provided in the kit wouldn't fit properly on the steering shaft. It fit over the shaft but didn't seat properly.

The AIM doesn't show a difference when mounting a plastic rim, 3 spoke wheel to a tilt or std column. I think the factory didn't see the canceling cam as a steering wheel mounting part like the repro kits do...

At the time I wrote off the cam as a poor repro part... When I bought the kit I wasn't asked if I had a tilt wheel...
