Can anyone help with information on what type of screw and thread size that the sunvisor supports take to tighten down on the sunvisor bushing? Everything I've tried doesn't seem to tighten down enough to hold the visor in the up position, or is too large to fit into the recess of the support.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The sun visor screw on my 69 is a #10-24 it has a special head, so I'm not sure if a hardware store screw will work. Is the plastic sleeve that fits around the shaft in place and not worn? if this is messed up the visor will fall.

Thanks Mat! I'll see what I can come up with in that size. I came across an Au-ve-co Products catalog today, they specialize in Body Hardware and Specialty Fasteners. Hopefully I can find something in their catalog.

Mine are #8 x 1/2" with a #6 oval head chrome screw. It is similar to many other sheet-metal interior fasteners, they just look strange because of the smaller head. You can also get #10 with a #8 head. Hilco Fastener Warehouse (714)-534-6882 caries them as well.

Thanks Carl! I ended up buying both #8 & #10-24 x 1/2 in a socket head cap screw. Mine ended up being the #10-24 x 1/2. The small diameter head allowed me to tighten then up for now until I can find the correct fastener/head combination. I'll start with the company you mentioned.

Don't forget it's a sheet metal screw, not a machine screw. A 10-24 may not get a good bite on that thin sheet.
