i got a 68 a few weeks ago and it has a new aftermarket dash pad. however, the dash pad needs to be secured to the dash. i need to find the clips or nuts or whatever to attach to the back of the plastic pegs that go into the dash at each end of the dash (to the left of the instrument panel and to the right of the glove box). any suggestions?

you can buy the clips from any camaro parts place, they are only like 6 bux.

contrary to the last reply you cannot buy the clips for a 68 dashpad at "any camaro place" i have searched and searched everyone of them and did not find them anywhere...tried classic, d and p, paddock etc....finally found them at a place for 35 bucks each....even had junk yards try to get them out of old cars..they break everytime...in restrospect i think i would try to make something of my own to do the job....but if u still the the info on where to get them let me know.

i tried looking everywhere too and finally just found some crazy looking nuts that fit behind the dash. functional but not exactly proper. oh well.

I have to replace the dashpad on my '69 in the spring. I've ordered a few catalogs, and they all say they have the clips in stock. But I'll probably be ordering from
"Year One".
I know guys that have ordered from them before, and service is excellent!

The clips are available for the 69's. Just seems to be the 68's that are hard to find.

You said that the dashpad was aftermarket so you shouldn't need any hardware for the lower corners of the dash. The replacements that I have seen have a plastic tab that gets pushed into the plastic grommet and that is how it is retained at least in some engineers head. Mine kept popping out so I got out the silicon gun and filled the grommets up and pushed in the tabs. Now they are stuck in pretty good. And if I remember correctly all of the nuts that are used under the dash to retain the top portion were of a different size and design on the aftermarket dashes. The 5 or 6 screws that hold the front of the dash on, are the same though. I have the 5 or 6 original nuts (all in good shape)in my garage and if someone wants to give me $35.00 each I'll dig them up.......

It's the grommet that goes in the dash that the dash pad clips to that I'm looking for. If that makes any sense. There is a rectangular opening on each side fo the dash and there is a white push in connector on the end of the dash pad. I'm assuming the "grommet" you are referring to fits in this opening on the dash. Mine are missing and have not had any luck in locating a pair.

In my case, even the right side that have the clip kept popping out so used the silicone solution for now. At least it's not a permanent glue, one can remove it if necessary and clean the area if you find the correct clips.
