I finally talked the owner into selling the car last week. The only hangup is the deadbeat son, who is out of state, & wants, the car-no money though.
The following is what the car has; 12Bolt, Th400, multileaf, Marina Blue w/White Bunbleebee stripe, wood grain steering wheel, Tic-Toc-Tac (7000 rpm),Black stnd interior w/ remote drivers side mirror.console w/all guages, fold down rear seat, power discs, power steering, SS hood w/28 rings on the hood springs.Blacked out rear deck below spoiler.
The car does not have the original 396, but has a 454 w/450 hp flags on the air cleaner.
There is the usual paint dimples(rust)around the roof drip rails. I could not feel or see any major body rust in the usual areas.
She wants $5000. for the car. The son has the original 396.
My '68 is about done, so maybe this could be the next project?
Let me know what you think.
Dan

What year?

Anyway, that is an outstanding price!

Sounds like you'll have some problem getting that original motor though

It's a '68. I know I won't get the 396 from the son, but I thought this is the kind of car we all dream about finding that has 95% of the original equipment stll working.
I just don't know if I want to start another long project again. My current '68 has taken 3 1/2 years to complete. Maybe I can sell it on E-Bay for $50,000. What do you think?

If you are sure the 396 is the original engine, I'd try to make a package deal. Maybe the son wants the engine for something. If so, offer to trade for the 454(unless of course it's a real LS6, or find him a similar 396.
The car will have much more value with the original engine. The extra value is probably greater than the extra up front cost to get the engine included in the deal.

If you don't buy it - - - it's gonna become one of those "I once had the chance..." stories.....

Buy it - once you get it home - you'll tink with it - -

Next thing you know - you may as well finish it - -

Then you're driving around thinking - God this is great driving this car!!

You know you'll have a long journey no matter what you feel the condition is. Buy it and make the son an offer he can't refuse. Down the road, you'll be glad you did.

The car isn't in Cape Coral, but the 396 is in Allentown, Pa. or is it Levittown?
I have family around Pittsburgh that might be able to get the engine ,if & when this deal goes down.
I will buy the car just to have a template to help me finish the current project. But, I know I'll start another project if I can talk the wife into giving up her parking space in the garage.
I'll send pics before & after when I get the title.
