Has anyone bought the new "molded" hood insulation? I am confused as to whether or not this is original or not. I have seen many a perfect restoration with the less expensive simple insulation. Now repro shops are offering the molded style. The molded is also quite a bit more $$, and without seeing it in person i'm not sure which to buy.....

I have compared the premolded repop to a couple of unrestored original pads. I didn't have them side by side, but the depressions in the repop appeared to be more pronounced than the original. I've been told by someone at Ricks, that the binder gives a little, after being in the hot engine bay, and the recesses would soften a little.
I've got the old repop in my garage, but I'm buying the new one for my car. $85 is a lot of money for the pad, but what the 773H |

whether it is exact to the origonal or notIt looks a heck of a lot better than the other. Some of the old insulation kinda looks like your carpenter installed it
