The rubber stripping on the inside of my quarter window chrome molding is junk. This is the peice that makes it seal on the quarter window(not the peice that seals to the door window).

Anyone know where to get a new one or how to fabricate one?

These are availabnle from the parts suppliers. They install easy by sliding into the chrome channel and have a small screw at the bottom to secure.

Hi Jack!

I called Ricks and others and they don't have the piece that I need. I bought the slide in rubber with a screw at the bottom that seals to the door window to the quarter window. I need the rubber that seals the chrome piece onto the quarter window.

Ok, I had this problem installing my door glass to the lower channel on the 67. That similar piece is not available either. You can bond the chrome part to the glass with an adnesive. An auto glass shop can do this for little money.

Paulm,

Go to you local bike shop and but an innertube.

Measure and cut, then use rubber contact cement or "crazy-glue" to adhere the tube to the chrome strip.

Once dry, put the glass in the chrome trim, and cut away the excess tube that poking out.
It's kind of a pain, but it works.

I called a glass shop to get a windshield installed and they said that while they were out here they could install the quarter trim on the glass for $50.....I laughed! They said that they would sell me some special tape for $5 instead.

All it is is double sided black tape.Just did mind works great.Any paint shop or glass shop has it.I had a friend in the glass shop help alot.

It is not double sided black tape. The real piece is molded in a U shape and no glue or sticky is used to hold it in place. The tape may work but would be a mess in a few years if any repairs were needsd... The Everseal in the link isn't sticky to my knowledge.

I heard of the tape method and tried it... it didn't last. I went to a glass shop to see if they sold the U channel and they didn't. He told me to use black silicone and so far it's held up fine. I got the GE auto black silicone in a small tube, I think it was about $2.00 or so.

When the glass guy came over to put in my windshield he gave me a roll of some kind of rubber/cork stuff. It's not sticky, it's about two inches wide and thin. He said that I could use that on the inside of the chrome to seal the glass. Whatever.....It was free!!!

It's called "glass setting tape" - comes in different thicknesses for different applications - all the Corvette resto parts houses carry it for setting side glass in the lower channel, and any auto glass shop has it too.
