I recently put a 1976 Corvette 350 engine bored 30 into my 69 Camaro. There was a 307 in the car before and it was running to hot so I went from a 2 row to a 3 row radiator. It runs great but it still running all little warm I am going to change out the termastat and put in a 165'. Does anyone have any suggestions. On what might be going on?

Do you have the stock fan/clutch/shroud in place? They're essential for proper cooling. A lower-rated thermostat won't make any difference in operating temperature - thermostats only determine MINIMUM temperature, as in cold weather; normal operating temperature is determined by the efficiency of the radiator, and the fan and shroud around town. Before you do anything, I'd shoot the thermostat housing with an I.R. gun and compare that reading against the gauge at the same time to determine if you really have a problem.

What do you mean by warm? The 76 350 was ment to run right at 200 degs and will work better if it runs there.

The question that begs to be asked here is under what circumstances is it running warm?

Is it at idle and slow speeds or cruising or both? The answer is important whereas all of these operating points have differing answers.

What is warm also?

JohnZ states it perfectly about thermostats. A change will only affect the opening point of the device, not necessarily make it run cooler if there is a problem.
