I guess your talking about the Z/28 stripes. We always called them Z/28 stripes.According to the Difinitive book on 69 Z/28s book by Jerry MacNeish, The 67 and 68 Z's also have them.I have seen a few r/s non Z cars with these stripes also.Possibly an option?

I always called them Z stripes. Until one day I met a guy with a non Z, with stipes. He said it was an option on his car.

On first generation Camaros the Z28s had them, while all other chevys (Chevelle, El Camino, Nova) they were part of the "SS" package. My experience has been that most people that do not own a Camaro usually refer to them as "SS Stripes".

On 69 Camaro, the stripes were standard on Z/28 and Z10/Z11 pace cars. They were not available on any other production car (I think the ZL1 show cars had them)

Of course they have become so popular that we associate them with Camaro Muscle. You can find them on almost any Camaro today. I've even seen them on SS hoods, where the stripe is interupted by the hood stacks.
