Hey guys, thanks for all the help so far...just one more question...does anybody know if you can buy an OEM replacement posi unit from GM??? the reason I am asking is because I can order parts from any GM dealer at cost.....if so does anybody have the GM part number?? also can you buy the gears from them as well??? thanks again guys!!! you are the best!!!!

The Eaton was OE back in the 60's and early 70's but has been discontinued by GM since. What you would find now for a replacement would be the dealer telling you to goto a differential shop or hitting the internet.

There are very few dealers that have manuals that go back that far for cross-reference. If you were to find the old number, there may just be a replacement number for the Eaton, but the 12 bolt went away a long time ago as well.

You can still get most of the internal parts through GM, but no ring & pinion gears and no complete posi.
