Need to know if a Chevy Camaro 1967& 1968 powerglide trans are Identical!! If not, What are the differences & also what code tells me the particular year of the powerglide!!

Steve; need to also know were to find the transmission code to determine what year it actually is!! What indicates in the code the year of the powerglide!

Chilton's book, copyright 1973, suggests starting in 68, the serial number was stamped on the P/G's left (pass side) upper flange of the convertor opening. However, the arrow in the picture is pointing to the pan flange on the pass side.
The book also states tx's VIN will match the dashboard VIN excluding the body style numbers and VIN will start with an "E". How true this is, I don't know.
