I have 69 camaro with powerglide and when I put into forward there is a delay of around three to five seconds before it will engage? When driving there is a slip sometimes before shifting into second. Reverse works fine and low seems to work fine. Is there any adjustment I can make to cure this?
Also in the future I will be swaping out to a 69-TH350 tranny. Will I need a different horseshoe shifter or linkage for the floor console besides the indicator plate?
Reading from recent post I see I need a bracket swap. Is ther any thing unsaid?
Thanks!

John, the beauty of troubleshooting a 'Glide is its simplicity. Low (1st) gear uses a band that wraps around the high (2nd) gear drum, which uses clutches in the drum. Reverse uses a separate set of clutches clear at the rear of the trans. If it slips into gear, there are a few things to look at. If you have access to a gauge, check the line pressure, it has a tap at the low gear servo cover, which is on the passenger side, and has 3 bolts holding it in place, near the cooler line area. You should see 50-70 psi at idle as a basic range in a stock application. At around 1000 RPM there should be near 110 psi, if you can check it there. The band may need adjusted. It is on the left side, and is just over the gear shift lever area. Loosen the 9/16" nut, and snug the allen adjuster in to 72 INCH/POUNDS and then back it out around 4 turns from there, and snug the nut down. A leaky servo bore or broken sealing ring on the servo can cause both issues you state. The servo applies for low gear, and also has pressure on the back side of it to help it release for the 1-2 shift. So, in theory, if the ring has broken, or the bore is worn, it could cause both a lazy shift into 1st gear, and slippage into 2nd. But, I have yet to see a broken sealing ring, or a bore worn that badly. Check the fluid level and condition too of course! Try this stuff first, if need be, email me if you need help figuring it out.
