Hi there and welcome to the best site on the web.
I don't have any experience with the second gen cars in this regard, but with the first gen the heater core is kind of a pain. To get it out, the best way is to pull the front fender. As well, you'll need to drop out the glovebox and pull the thing out through the interior. Again, this is on a first gen though... There is another forum that is specific to second gen cars that you might want to take a look at. The guy who put it together goes by the handle "mad mike" and comes by this site sometimes. A web search will probably find his page. Good luck.
