I'm using a 21" 3 core for a small block with the shroud, stock style fan, and have no problems

i'm using a "stock" 3 core, factory shroud, and electric fan, and it keeps my 406 cool. and i had used the internal trans cooler with my 3500 stall th350 for awhile, and no cooling issues there either. i would however go with an external trans cooler.
