My heater core sprung a leak last weekend. How much of a pain is it to replace on this car? Does it come out from under the dash or is it under the cover in the engine compartment? Any tips or tricks would be much appreciated.
Matt

I can only tell you from my cars that i have worked on. My 68 i had a time getting to the nuts that are inside the pasenger side fender,on the fire fall, the heater core comes out from the outside of car,my 67 i had the front end off so it was easy to get to the heater core cover.

mine was a piece o cake. unfortunately the more crap you can remove from under the dash the easier it will be (glove box, radio, ashtray, etc.), but if you take your time and have patience, its not bad at all. and actually it comes out from the INSIDE. you do not need to remove the fender or any engine side parts, with the exception of the nuts that are on the engine side of the heater box.
check out this old thread of mine, from when i did my core, its long but good info provided. most of the step by step info is on page two first gen heater core replacement good luck with it |
