kmaro, Ok, I'm confused. The only sheetmetal I've seen available is the outside rocker panels for a coupe. Covertibles rocker panels are a sandwich of 4 panels of very thick galvanized metal. You can't use the coupe rockers, cause you lose your body strength.

Used rockers are the only source I've seen and you really need a plasma cutter and a MIG welder to replace them. If you don't have the plasma cutter, it will take you a long time to separate all the spot welds.

The inner rockers and large body brace are the first to go. I know cause I have 2 cars with this condition.

Please give us more info on what D&R is selling. Thanks, Kevin

I believe you are right about the rockers being four peices. I am talking about the inner most peice that the floor pan welds to to form the hollow that the cowl air is supposed to flow through to keep it dry. It has a small square rubber flap on it in front of the rear wheel wheel under the car. A cutting wheel on a grinder did just fine on the spot welds. The only thing I know about The part from D&R is what they show in there 2001 Catalog on page 41 PT# A00115
Thanks for your reply
Kmaro

kmaro, I know the piece well. it runs from the toe area to the rear wheel inner housing. If D&R repros it, I will buy 3!! I have a D&R catalog, but I don't know if its 2001. I will have to check. Thanks for the info. Kevin

kmaro, well both Rick's and D&R have it. I'm going to have to buy some sets. I sent an email to Rick's about the gauge, haven't heard back yet. Kevin

RickD, D&R has a small pic, but Rick's does not. The item is just for convert, but pic was not large enough to show detail. I know that item was not there last year, you would think that so many people would want this item, that they would be advertising it a little better. I'm going to wait for the response from Rick's before I get any. Also, I'm going to the Englishtown Swap meet 4/27, so I will look for this there too! When I get some, I'll post the info on the boards. Kevin

Well, just got the reply from Rick's, needless to say, they were a little sparse on the details (it's the same gauge as the factory!) Oh well, I'll look for it at the E-town swap meet first, then get my order in. Later, Kevin

I have used the inner rockers from D&R on my 67 firebird hardtop. I think that they fit rather well, they did need some trimming on length but hay that could just be my inexpeirance in installing them. I think that they are 14 gauge steel. The only real problem I encountered was that hey do not come drilled for the seatbelt mount let alone with the seatbelt mount so I cut my old ones off and measured drilled and welded them into the new ones. At the price though I think with the simplicity of them you could probably go to a big sheetmetal suppier and buy a couple of pieces and ask them to bend the bends into them for you. You would probably come out cheaper in cost. If you need the dimensions email me and I will go out and measure them for you.

Well I have just finished installing the right side inner rocker from D&R Classic!!
It was a job and for the most part the fit was good. You do have to install the front seat belt anchor nut and do some cutting on the front to get the right angle. Sure does make a nice place to weld the new floor pan to. On to the left side.

I bought the inner rocker panel for my convt. that everyone is talking about. They need alot of modifications. Too much for the price. The only thing that is good about them is the thickness of the metal. I tried to fit the full length but it would not fit correctly. Right where the inner rocker meets the toe board is where the big problem is. The bends in the repo one do not match up with the factory bends. I was going to start to modify the repo one but I found another convt that was much farther along in the resto so I junked the rust heap. The only things that was good on the first conv was the trans tunnel, drivers rocker, windshield frame, and the firewall. Oh ya and the k member under the floor.
