My friend just bought a 1969 convertible camaro.
Checking the glass we found that the door glass is "LOF" (tinted) and the quarter glass is "PPG" (tinted)
Is there something wrong here, or is it common to have two manufacturers type of glass ??
I have checked on the CRG site and am still confused.

Thanks John

Typically, LOF supplied glass for the Camaro lines, while PPG supplied glass for the Firebird lines.

That being said, I am sure that in a pinch, glass suppliers were switched to keep the production lines running.

I guess that makes sense if you run out of one brand then use the other.

The LOF glass has LV letters while the PPG has no letters but numbers such as 25-27

I haven't been able to work out his date.

Thanks

Does anyone have the decoding for the date codes on PPG glass. My '72 elky has PPG glass, which I think it all original, but I can not find any decoding information. Chevy Rumble has a great article on decoding LOF glass, but nothing on PPG Glass. I've emailed Doug Marion, the editor and he told me to email John Dianna the owner. John has yet to get back to me regarding this.

Can anyone tell me how to decode the dates on PPG glass? or point me to the right website?

I am going to check into this and see what I can find. My boss is an old glass guy (I work for PPG) and he might have some contacts who would know....

Yeah, I found some stuff, but it doesn't fit exactly to the older templates. I can tell you that the first digit in the code (e.g. - 26 -27) stands for the manufacturing plant.

I believe they are:
1 - Creighton, PA works
25 - Greensburgh, PA works
26 - Crestline, OH works
27 - Tipton, PA works
28 - Evansville, IN works
41 - Berea, KY Works
81 - Oshawa, Ontario works

The second digit appears to be a date code with the last digit being the year of manufacture. I am still checking into this...
