I don't know much about camaros and i wanted to find out if chevy offered a V6 LT1 in 1997. The camaro i have has the LT1 decals but im not sure if the person before me just added them on. It has a stock 3.8 liter V6 but it does have a stock K&N filtercharger. Also is there any after market product under $200 that i could add to boost horsepower.

Chevy did not put any emblems on the V6 Camaro, for the engine or anything else.

Welcome
if you don't want to spend much money, you could "free up" some horsepower by lightening the car- take out the sound deadener. if it has power leather seats, get manual cloth seats- i'm sure a boneyard would probably give you cash and manual cloth seats in exchange for power leather. take out the back seat- it is only there to make it technically a 4 seater for marketing and insurance purposes.
does it have a thumping stereo in it? if so, take it out and sell it. subs and amps and boxes and all that crap just adds dead weight, and the money you get could be put towards deeper gears and better exhaust.
or save a lot of screwing around and go trade it in towards a 93-97 Z28 that already has a 300 horsepower LT1 V8 and really won't cost you much more to get or insure, and they get really good fuel mileage, to boot.

I don't know if Chevy continued to offer the RS option in 97 as they did in 96. The RS option included RS badging & ground effect pkg. (both dealer installed), quick ratio steering, 3.23:1 Posi rear end, Z/28 wheels, 4 wheel disc brakes, 215 HP engine, and dual exhaust out the back. My 96 RS is the Romulan cloaked version, with no RS badging or ground effects pkg.

gmranch they did offer that package in '97. I own one with everything you mentioned along with a few other options. I had the local GM dealer do a printout of the build sheet for my car and it has eveything that was offered for the Z-28 it only has 2 less cylinders. My car is a stock RS convertible with the 3.8 motor and auto tranny. It has the limited slip 3:42 rear end and dual exhaust out the back. Gas charged shocks, Z-28 chrome wheels, disc brakes on all 4's, ground affects all the way around, and factory alarm. Leather interior with power everything, CD player, A/C, folding rear seat. We are the 3rd owner......... and it does have the RS badge on it.

SUPV26, mine, in addition to the previous post, has a 5 speed, AC, AM/FM/Stereo Cassette, standard interior, no power windows or seats, and no panel tops. I was able to locate this car on the GM dealer network.
