Hello, I was wondering if the 67 Camaro BB (396) came from the factory with spark plug shields. If so, are they the same ones that the Corvette's used in 65-66? www.corvette-paragon.com offers some (1647K) and I wondered if they were correct for my L78 application.

Many thanks,

Leif Bertrand

Leif, I can't answer your question, and the Paragon site did not have a pic. However, if you decide you should have them, you can buy ones like the ones shown in Year One, at a local GM truck parts place. I think I still have the part number, if you are interested.

Leif, what head castings do you have. Colson shows 67 ~ 375 horse (before May 67) had 3904391 heads without the bosses for shield attachment. Later (May 67 on) heads 3919840 shouldn't have provisions for them either.

Dyno John- My heads are the 391's. I'll feel pretty stupid if there aren't attachemnt holes for the shields... I thought they probably would have used an existing bolt. Perhaps an exhaust manifold bolt? No?

I think you may have answered my question-Thanks
