Did a search and could not find a thing. How was the bumper jack lug wrench stored in the trunk with the mast? I bought a repro rubber sleeve from Classic Muscle. It is about 18" long. Thought I was getting the same as shown in Rick's catalogue, which is 2 short sleeves, same as shown in the assembly manual. Anybody know what is right? If they are short does anyone have a measurement? Thanks.

All the Camaro's my wife and I have owned, not at one time, seven total, we both remember the jack storage.
The first item into place was the wrench with the head pointing to the pass side, followed by the jack stand lying on top of wrench. The spare tire goes on next, outside showing, J-bolt goes through the middle, jack base slides over the J-bolt, wingnut is last. I don't remember there being any rubber sleeves on any items. If things rattled, tighten on the wingnut more. Maybe others can devote their thoughts.....

I'm not aware of any rubber sleeves on the jack handle either. They are not shown in the 68 AIM.
Everett Not to be picky, but, just about everything you said is backwards . The lug wrench and jack mast go on opposite ends of the tire, the head of the wrench points to the drivers side, and the outside of the wheel faces down. I think the practice of having the outside of the wheel facing up developed because it "looks" better when you open the trunk. I bought a reproduction bolt and wing nut a few years ago, and it was extra long to accommodate using it with the wheel facing up. I had to cut it down.

Would it show on a trunk sticker? Kevin

As for the rubber sleeve, my 68 Camaro is missing one, but my 67 Firebird has the original one piece sleeve. Hope this helps.

Guys,
That Sleeve was only used on the Chevelle (except Station Wagon and El Camino) for the model years 1968 and 1969. Part Number 9781956. Another example of incorrect information coming from the vendors. Ed

The 69 assembly manual shows 2-#4778650 straps. I think Rick's has it right in their catalogue.

My LA 69 has a single rubber sleve probably about 18 inches long. I'll have to pull my spare and measure it. As far as I know it's original......

Does anybody have the factory supplied "screwdriver" for removing rally wheel trim rings? It is shown in the jacking instructions on cars equipped with these wheels.

I know it's not correct, but I used 2 pieces of an old bicycle tube cut into large
rubber bands, (20in old schwinn stingray slik size) worked perfectly...Mike
