Just got my replacement choke coil (thermostat) installed. Fired it up and works great, initially. Idled high and after several minutes tapped the gas and the idle dropped a good bit. (No tach by the way) However, the idle does'nt completely drop down as it should when the engine is completely warmed up. I am wondering what adjustment I need to make to the choke system? I have the Rochester 2bbl with divorced choke (coil resides on top of the manifold). Thanks in advance!

I believe that when the engine is at full operating temp you bend the rod between the coil and the choke butterfly so the butterfly is all the way open. There may be an adjustment for teh fast idle also I really don't know that carb well, it could be another linkage rod you bend (shorten or lengthen)

Yeah, bending the rod is the adjustment, and it's not unusual for the heat riser passages in the head and intake manifold to become plugged with carbon, which would delay or prevent the choke from opening fully.
