I believe that the "space saver" is an option that could be ordered from the factory or dealer installed.

If the car was not ordered with a space-saver spare the spare matched the other wheel/tire assemblies.

Tell me about the Space Saver. I may have one in my shed, that I don't want. If it is one of these "Space savers" it can go to a wanting home. Free to my Camaro brothers - no shipping.

Rick.
