My car no longer has the correct rear leafs on it. I had seen that D&R sells original appearing 4 leaf, leaf springs that would be correct for the 68Z. Just wondering if anyone has seen a set and how they looked, or is there a better, cheaper set out there somewhere?

Contact http://www.eatonsprings.com/ Tell them the options on your car, and they will build the correct spring. I'm pretty sure they have the corect appearing spring available.

Eaton is reall good to talk to about original springs, I bought a set of z28 replacement springs from Ricks and they had eaton labels on them. I bought the standard version not the concours version for my 69z28, since the 302 is long gone.

Last time I spoke to Eaton, they said the springs were exact in function and very close in form but not quite 100% concours correct in appearance. There was talk about a run of exact concours repro's but that idea had been scrapped at that time. Not many people would know the difference anyway.
Maybe it is worth a GP? |

Rick's catalogue shows style 1 at $199 and style 2 for $379. They tell me that style 2 is exactly correct. Does anyone know what that means and what makes the rear springs correct?

Gary the correct springs had the pockets for the
rubber insulators to set in you couldn't see them from the bottom. Got mine for Rick's and the car sets perfect |

I bought my rear springs from HeartBeat City. He has the exact springs if that is what you are looking for. The Eaton springs and Rick's are not technically correct.

i used a new primary spring along with the originals for the other leaves. That way you have the strength of the new spring, but since the pockets are on the shorter leaves, it looks perfect. I also got new square isolators, from espo. most folks sell only the round ones.

I think all of the springs come from the same place.
The way I understand this happens is that all the big Camaro vendors get together and place one big order to keep the price down and make this possible. I got the "EXACT" reproductions for a 68Z and found that my car sat too high and I got rid of them and found a set of used originals from CA, broke them apart, blasted and painted them, put em back together. Problem solved. By the way the repro leaf silencers are wrong for the original springs so I reused the originals.

Unreal, Who is ESPO? What you described is what I planned on doing until I found the used set?
Thanks

Not all the springs out there are from the same place. They maybe for the major resto companies, but Heartbeats are different.
Tony, I am not sure if Rick's buys theirs from him or not.

I bought a set of new springs, and took them apart for the primary. ESPO supplies all kinds of coil and leaf springs. 800-903-9019.
