The car was posted here on Team Camaro for sale, and after some further investigating between seller and others it turns out someoen found the gold at the end of the rainbow. one of the guys on the sYc site posted this about the car.

Quote:
i talked to john the owner yesterday it sounds like he may have decided to keep the car and has plans of installing an iron 427 in it just for now. he told me the car had z emblems on it when he bought it, also he said he just bought it a few weeks ago from the long time owner. what a find!!!
Congrats on finding a rare car and hope someday to seee it restored someday.

Sounds like a story to me-the car is in my ZL1 records as having been "discovered" there years ago.

Would if I could. #36 has been known for some time; it is not a recent discovery.

William it was a recent discovery the guy just purchased it as a Z28.Started checking the trim and the vin and discovered it was a ZL1.He said he emailed Ed but never received a reply. His purchase and discovery of this car was a fluke.A fluke of luck.

It has been years since I stopped tracking ZL1s.

I have a listing of ZL1s I faxed to Bill Porterfield at least 10 years ago showing #36 as "located...was in MD".

Don't remember; could have been Ed.

The list I have it on is from 1992. If the car was registered someone was on it-or trying to be. At that time there were several ZL1s on old open titles that could not be located. At least one probably still exists.

When we bought #4 in '87 it was on an open title; the owner of record had used it as partial payment on some real estate.

This one couldn't be traced ,per Clint R. that bought it,because the complete vin had a previous recorded error of one of the digits in the vin.

Guys, it is a neighbor of mine who bought the car. He lives two houses away, lol. I saw him come around the corner with the Camaro he was taking out east to use in the deal for the new car. I am not sure if he is home yet, have not seen his Jeep in the drive. But you can bet I will swing around the corner and take a peek when I see it!
