Hi. I have a 68 rs/ss camaro. I wrote G.M. of Canada to see what they had on my car for info. I received a large amount of info including all the options, shipping date and such. Under "dealer" headline, it had "G.M. of Canada Show Car Account, Oshawa. Ontario". Does anyone know what the 'show car' account may be? Could it be possable that this car was used as a showroom car from dealer to dealer?

I had permission to post this, but I deleted the owners name and 4 of the VIN numbers. If he wants to tell everyone what they are he will. This is a mid year car, with no really rare options on it. My only thoughts are that there was either a car show (like an international manufacturer show) occuring in March of 68 or perhaps the car was to be a pace car for something (grand prix?) around that same time.

Very cool- Are the simulated magnesium wheel covers the ones that have the faux lugnuts? Do you still have them? Its always interesting to see how these cars were ordered. My mother in laws '68 SS 350 had a Powerglide, bench seat and the floor clock. Makes you wonder why they ordered it that way.

So they could tell what time it was at the submarine races at Inspiration Point (Obscure reference). Bucket seats and a floor shifter suck at the drive-in, and the back seats don't have enough much room.

That is good advice to call George Zappora. I have heard where people had some weird codes on their GM Canada docs and when they called back they were given differnt info. I think some of the info is transfered by hand and is not a accually a copy of the old record.

The GM of Canada show car account was used in many cases to order special cars for retiring executives or a top-level employee.

In most cases it was simply used to produce a special display car for an auto show, or promo event.

Could also have been produced as a demo for a fleet order promotion.

Wherever the quality of production would get extra scrutiny.

Not like COPO at all.

This account was used specifically for cars that would be representing GM at promo events.

Also used for special hi-level employee production orders.

Went down the same line, but were carefully examined at each step for defects.

These were to be special cars.
Mostly for display purposes.

Quality of paint, fit and finish, were better.

Usually, they did not have any high performance additions. The were just put together more carefully.
