After the airing of the first shows, everyone has been quiet about the shows. Rides with Foose was pretty cool. I would have liked to see more of the development of the car though. What do you think of "Boyd's" show? A 1956 "junkyard dog" turned into a custom. Boyd's guys sure are 'hole' happy. I like it so far, but I would really like to see a drawing of what they are trying to build, or maybe it is just a seat of the pants transformation. Should be interesting.

Oh yeah... Rides last week about building the Hot Wheels Deora II was great! Not as much "bling" as the West Coast eposode... but definately more BANG!
I attended the Peterson's Hot Wheels Induction event and saw the Deora II pull up. Incredable!

I watched the "American Hotroder" episode. I enjoyed it. I got a kick out of the grumpy old shop supervisor, Roy I think is his name. Codi, you're right, it would be nice to see a drawing of what the finished product is supposed to look like. All of the custom work on that car must be costing MEGABUCK$!! especially at Boyd Coddington's shop....Another interesting thing was that the shop's business manager is Boyd's ex-wife! I'll bet she sees to it that everyone pays thier bills on time so she can get her alimony payment every month! LOL
I watched it to see if there was anything of value that I could use in restoring my own car. All in all, a decent show.

I missed the last one, what was the Foose portion about? Was Chris Titus the moderator?

Foose did the Deora II Hot Wheels car. That was a much better episode, but they did a "fast forward" while the car was being built and we missed a lot of the true custom work. They just need to get rid of the Bling Bling cr@p, but this episode was based on the Hot Wheels theme so I'll let them slide this time. I don't care how many tv screens, video games and woofers you can put in a car or truck. Just make it look good and run/drive awesome.

I would like a different host on the "Rides" show. Jason Preistley just has too much of a monotone boring voice to be a backgroung voice.

Just my opinion....but, it seems to me that Boyd's show has all the people that claim to know what they are doing yelling at people that don't claim to know much. All except the painter, that is.

I agree Toby. I was kind of surprised at the lack of, let's say, professionalism.
I thought Troy Trepanier's people acted alot more professional and together. Boyd's people seem to get the work done, but more like the keystone cops in comparison to other's. Almost like they lacked the compassion for the car & hobby. It's just a job they don't want to be at. This may not be the case, it's just the feeling I got. Especially with guy's atittude doing the exhaust work. And the poor kid getting slammed by Boyd for the wheel key chain. I saw Boyd's point, but it was harsh for the kid on national TV. LOL If Boyd doesn't want to be under pressure, maybe he shouldn't promise people custom cars in 4 weeks. That's just stupid.

I think the whole 'yelling' thing gets the audience and the ratings. All the new 'assembly & fabrication' shows....i.e. Amer. Hotrod, Amer. Chopper, Bike Build off, etc.. seem to have lots of conflict. With that aside, those guys have some good talent...except for Mikey on American Chopper....he just comes off as a real goofball.
I think if there were no yelling, besides hardcore people (like in here) no one would want to see an hour of welding and some guy using an english wheel. My wife watches it with me, and she likes the 'storyline and characters'... I like the actual skills and work taking place. Just my $ .02 |

First off, lets get one thing VERY clear........MIKEY RULES! As much as I like the choppers and theme bikes built by OCC, I am damn tired of Paul Sr. and Paul Jr.'s yelling crap. Mikey is just a smooth sail in the storm. You have to get a kick out of him and his antics like the Christmas tree, his Blues Bike, and his disdain for the yelling. Of all the people on that show, I have to give the kudos to Mikey and "Vinnie". On Rides, I wanted to know more about the process they used to form the panels on the Hot Wheels truck. In less than an hour, they went from the concept to the end product. We missed alot of info. I feel for Boyd's crew also. Like said before, the poor guy (who's upper lip never moves) made Boyd a gift of a custom key chain and he gets his balls busted on TV by Boyd. At least we don't see that much of Boyd on this episode. I really think they have a communication problem in his shop. One week one guy is giving the orders, the next week two guys are giving orders. Oh well, it's all for entertainment.

I worked in a joint like that a long time ago. We even got yelled at for TALKING while we worked.
Couldn't handle that crap so I walked. Never regretted it one little bit.
