I was just sitting here thinking about all the vast and diverse amount of people we have in this forum and all of the unlimited kowledge that is made avaliable throughout this site.
I can't help but wonder "How many professions do we have in here?" I myself am a Telecommunications Specialist for a phone company called SBC Ameritech. Tell us, What is YOUR profession and what exactly do you do for a living. (I can understand that for some this might be a bit personal, so if you don't answer, hey, that's cool too) but for those of us who live to "stand out" , Tell us what you do for a living that makes you so valuable to the rest of us

Let's see, what do I do??? Well I guess my main position is a fire test technician and when I'm not doing that, I double as a quality control inspector. They seem to get the best of both worlds. They assign me two jobs, but only pay me for one.......
That's big buisness.

Wow Jeff... can't make up your mind?

Network Admin/PC Support for one of a major security companies Customer Monitoring Centers. It's boring... but I'm blessed just to have a job these days.
Sorry, it doesn't make me valuable at all to anyone else, unless you want your Camaro wired with a Catalyst in the trunk or wireless network!

Well, I do about the same thing as Joe. Take care of a network and support PCs, do a little database programming, make sure the phone system stays alive and well. They found out I can turn a wrench and hammer a nail so I've inherited some building maintenance responsibilities as well. The way things are these days, as long as the pay check keeps coming I don't mind doing what I'm asked to do.

I'm a 'Applications Developer' (computer programmer) for a major insurance company. I know almost everyone has heard of the company because of our cute mascot and commercials - AFLAC. Yes, the white duck company.

Professional Phone Answering Dude.

I wouldn't call this a career, It's just my part time job.

I'm a security guard, and have to answer a phone once and awhile. It pays me to surf the net and read chevelles.com/camaros.net

Pretty sweet.

I'm a Sr. Network Admin for a major health insurance company. I work on the infrastucture (routers/switches/firewalls) so I don't have to deal with the PC desktop thing. And that is a good thing!

Yes it is Randy...

I however went through a organizational restructuring of our company and ended up doing client support. Yes desktop! YUK :-(

Formerly was doing admin work with the desktop junk and at least got to mix things up somewhat.

Hey it still pays the bills (well almost)
And allows me to play with my cars

I'm starting my senior year at the College of William and Mary and am applying to law schools for next fall.

As far as work... I have worked so many jobs trying to save money for school and the Camaro. I think the best was working the night loading shift at UPS... midnight to 10am, 6 days a week! Or it could be as a financial investment advisor with a bank... don't ask me how I managed to land that job... I'm not even an econ or business major!
