Hi everyone,
I'm new to this and bought a 69 RS SS convertible that I am slowing putting back into shape. My question is on the rear well molding that the top boot attaches to. I was just at the GM show in Carlisle, and all the convertibles have smooth rear well moldings and the top boot uses plastic clips to snap onto the molding. The rear well molding on my car has snaps and the top boot has matching snaps. These look like the snaps from a baseball jacket. They don't look new or replaced, but the car is 35 years old and I guess it could have been changed many years ago. Were any cars produced with the snaps or do I need to switch to the smooth molding for originality? Any comments are appreciated, thanks for the help, Mike |

Your snaps were attached later. NOT original. The clips you mentioned attached (snapped) onto the trim. I have seen lots of aftermarket snaps attached to the trim. Usually done by people when they got a new boot made. Original is smooth trim.
