Default Amzoil to Mobil 1

I have used Amzoil from the start on my 396. Currently looking at another oil change but found Mobil 1 at half the cost. Anyone see an issue with this?

We build a lot of circle track engines and we had a couple of customers go to the Mobile 1 and there saw elevated oil temps and the went back to the Amsoil and they were fine after that and we figured there was less protection with the Mobil 1 But for the street it should be fine.

But becareful if it does not say racing on any of the oils made today they have less zink and phosephate which are your friction reducers which flat tappit cam need to live.

I know some engines shops in the area that have found that out the hard way.

Mobile recentely introduced 3 new oils for long change intervals with different blends to compete with other oils, hence the cheaper prices on some vs others. When it comes to expensive engines, oil is the last thing you want to save money on. Stick to the Amsoil if you've had good luck with it. I change my 10w-40 amsoil 100% syn, once a year and oil analysis shows its still good for continued use, but I change it anyway. Whats $50 worth of oil in an engine that is worth $4000?

What oil then for stock 302, that has zinc and phosphate?
