I have just bought some GM, I hope 68 Camaro wheel well moldings for my camaro. They are in to different wrappers. One you can tell is NOS and the other is newer GM with www.gmgoodwrench.com on them. What exactly did I buy???
Part#: 7995064 7995063 9785880 9785881 4229493 How exactly do these fit in the rear of a camaro, they seem like they would be short in the front or in the back alittle, depending on how you center them on the fender. Can somebody email me photos of the correct fitment on these? Where they located different depending on model of camaro? Mine is a 68 plain car. Thanks, Erik

Part#:
7995064 = LH rear wheelhouse moulding - 1968 7995063 = RH rear wheelhouse moulding - 1968 9785880 = RH front wheelhouse moulding - 1967~68* 9785881 = LH front wheelhouse moulding - 1967~68* 4229493 = RH rear wheelhouse moulding - 1967 * = part number is the same for both years, they can be used on all 1967 with RS or with RPO-Z21 Exterior Style Trim Option and on 1968 with RPO-Z21 Style Trim - they will require trimming of bottom section to match up with original mouldings if used on a 1968 with RS trim. 1968 rear wheelhouse mouldings are shorter than 1967. The #4229493 is a 1967 only rear wheelhouse moulding and would require trimming to fit a 1968. "Mine is a 68 plain car." - then the first four (4) numbers you gave will fit fine. Use the hardware (screws) provided with them to mount in the existing holes. Hope this helps; John

I had the same questions about the web address and NOS stuff answered recently by General Motors. First, GM uses the same part numbers for Genuine GM and reproduction parts. The distinction is the "Genuine GM" label. A reproduction cannot legally say Genuine GM. A reproduction is a "GM Liscenced" product. As far as the wheel wheel moldings one of the 4 for the 68 is still available from the General and others were available recently, so the presence of the web address is OK. If it says Genuine GM then it was made by General Motors or its designated manufacturer and is of original quality and is considered "NOS". NOS isn't technically defined, so even parts that are still avialable can be listed as NOS. I know it stands for New Old Stock, but quantify 'New' and 'Old'. These terms haven't been defined legally or quantifiably. So, after the rambling, I wouldn't worry about the packaging being different. If they are Genuine GM, then they are good parts.
Hope this helps, Chad |

This is an old thread, but I'm sure someone out there knows the answer.
"The #4229493 is a 1967 only rear wheelhouse moulding and would require trimming to fit a 1968." What kind of trimming is required here? Both ends? Do the screw holes still line up?

You have to trim the front of the trim as it was longer in '67. Not sure about the screw holes.

Sorry it took a while to get back to you ...
As stated, you need to trim the front/leading edge of the '67 moulding to use it on a '68. The remaining screw hole locations are the same for both years.

My 68 is a standard coupe with the style trim package, not an RS. Do I still need to trim the moldings to align with the RS trim would be? I just bought a pair and am waiting for them to ship. Hopefully, it will all make more sense when they get here. Of course, I would like the installation to be correct.
