Default Installing frame rail battery clips

I received the 3 positive battery clips today. The quesiton is how do you mount them to the frame strong enough to hold the battery cable. It looks like some kind of rivet that pushes into the frame hole. It seems they are too small even after pushing them into the hole with some force their lose. What I am doing wrong this time? :-(. Always seems to be something!

do a search for battery clips. i found some good info there when i did mine.

the ferrule needs to be spread like a pop rivet after it's in the hole. i flared mine by using 2 nails that fit in the hole side by side and forcing them in opposite directions. it took a while but eventually it flared and held tight.

I put them in the holes and ran a small sheet metal screw through the middle to spread them out. I left the screw in. You might loose some points on a show car but they won't fall out again.

Another idea that might work is a very small Dynabolt (concrete anchor bolt). The flared end could spread the rivet nicely.
Let me know what works.. I have a couple to do too!
Thanks.

RUN269's way seemed to work the best. I wanted to get the metal screws in but couldn't find one that was big enough to spread the collar but small enough to fit. The two nails worked best. They giggle a little but they seem like there in good enough to hold the cable. It was a pain in the neck.
Thanks for the help!!

mine jiggled at first too, so i kept twisting the nails. they are in solid now, with no wiggle.

blackoutsteve had an idea i was going to try next, but instead of concrete anchors i was going to find a plastic sheetrock wall anchor and try it. they come small enough to fit into the hole i bet and they spread real good on the end. just been busy doing other stuff on her right now. but it's on my list of to do things...which is still a mile long

Just curious where these clips were purchased. I need to do the same thing on my car. Haven't had luck finding them.

Just use a tapered punch or small tapered drift pin to spread the tubular rivet section inside the frame; in the plant we used a burp gun with a tapered shank to install them.
