Yea right think I should call the number, or get the check and frame it for him as a reminder if its to good it is. Heres the email.

>Hello Marcus,
>Thanks for the detailed information provided on the purchase of your vehicle .Hope the vehicle is oil changed, serviced and ready to go,Please be advised of the urgency of the transaction ,i have just discussed with the customer not long ago regarding payment and pickup arrangements,He explained that there is no much time left considering the purpose of the vehicle and that the debtor company already took more than enough time to release his (check payment).
> He has instructed me to inform you that payment will get to you in a cashier check of $20,200 payment made out to cover the expense of the shipper who will be shipping the vehicle since he would be travelling out of town for business, So you are required to deduct the cost of your vehicle $13,000 when payment is received and send balance of $7,200 to the shipper for him to be able to offset shipping & tax charges, and other cosmetic repair costs.
> Upon receiving your payment and balance sent down to the shipper immediately the shipper's agent will come for inspection and pick up (of vehicle & signing of title papers), some cosmetic touches and drive to the prepaid shipper .Confirm this and forward your LEGAL NAMES, ADDRESS and PHONE NUMBER for payment to be made out. Please get back to me within fews hours of receiving my mail to confirm this.I await your favourable response with the required information for payment delivery asap.
>Thanks in anticipation of your understanding.

I used to just delete email from the scammers but sometimes I mess with a few of these guys. Set up a free email account and have some fun. Some may think it's a waste of time, but I figure every minute they spend following my dead end leads is a minute they are not scamming someone else. Most are common theives and aren't interested in tracking down someone who has wasted their time. Never give them any real information.
When they tell you the car is somewhere over seas, tell them it's no problem to pick it up and give them the cash face to face. They will do anything to avoid a face to face pick up beause there is no car.

One time I told one of these idiots I would be taking the "Trans-International Atlantic Tunnel" from New York to Germany and I needed directions from the tunnel exit in Germany. He was informed we would try to drive all the way without stopping but may need to spend the night at the "Sub-Atlantis Howard Johnsons." He responded that he didn't know of any tunnel and it would be best if the car was shipped (safer and all that good stuff). I assured him that president Bush built the tunnel a few years ago to make it easier to invade other countries, it was originally top secret until this year. Recently, it was opened to the public and the toll is only $232.00 US. He was told if he didn't believe me, check with some of his friends and neighbors, I'm sure they heard of it.

Anyway, you get the picture. Waste their time. Also, sometimes I'll just start cracking up laughing while in the car. My wife will say, "what's so funny?" I'll tell her I just pictured this Nigerian idiot asking his buddies about the "Trans-International Atlantic Tunnel."

The next time this happens, I think I'll tell the scammer I'll be taking, "The Bill Clinton Atlantic Speed Ferry!"

That is real funny. I know my son wants to sell his car real bad and was talking about this and how good this deal was. I told him send me the email. I dont know what was funnier your reply or his really beleaving that was real. I'm with you I need to come up with something real good kinda like the Ronald Reagan Supersonic Shuttle? I'm still laughing on your ideas. I wish I could see his face when he asks his buddies about those. LMAO!!!
Thanks for the ideas,
Mike

Never posted before, but this scam hit close to home. A similar thing happened to me once but I recieved a reply from an ad and the perp was right here in my city. In your case, How did this guy from another country, with a Seattle phone number know about your son's car. Was it listed in the trade magazine or ad on the net?

WOW!! I figured the whole world new about all these scams. I am amazed anyone would fall for this. I am glad you caught it before your son lost money or his car. I often wondered why these losers even bothered to try this crap, but now I see it must work from time to time.

Marrolova as far as them getting info on the car and having a sontact number, that is very common and easy. If you ever try to sell a car or parts online you will get contacted by a scammer. They contact me every single time (E-bay, Auto trader, Camaros.net, etc..) doesn't matter where you list the item if it's online. There are people sitting there looking for cars online all day and trying to run these silly scams. They will also post cars for sale that are WAY too good of a deal. For example a 1969 Camaro Z28 all original for $6500, they hope people get excited and stop using common sense.

Bottom line if you can't go look at the car (or if the owner is "overseas") I would avoid dealing with them. There are different laws in different countries many times our authorities can't do anything about it if you get ripped off. The best way to avoid this is to assume everyone is a crook/liar and only deal in the US. It's a shame that's the way it has to be.

A little over a year ago I listed a 69 10 bolt posi on the Team Camaro CLassifieds and was contacted by a scammer using some of the same crap. I have been in law enforcement for more than 32 years and can smell a con a mile away. Last night the wife was checking e-mail and yelled for me to come to the office. When I got there, she showed me an e-mail that purported to be from e-bay that looked official and said that we needed to log on immediately to save our account. I called a guy I know at e-bay security and forwarded the message to him. Someone or more are cloning e-bays url and attempting to gain personal info. Beware. If you get an e-mail like that, do not answer it.
