Default Engine ID

I got this information off of the block:
Top #: F1122BF
Which from the info I've found means:
• Flint, MI Plant
• November 22nd
• BF = 140HP L6

and the # under that is:
18W247892

and the VIN is:
124378N458862

any ideas? Orgional engine?

I havent been able to see any of the hidden VINs because they are to hard to get to.

That engine was originally installed in a '68 Nova at Willow Run.

The partial VIN on the engine looks like it belongs to a 68 Nova.

1 = Chevrolet
8 = 1968
W = Willow Run

Willow Run was making Novas and Covairs, and an L6 wouldn't be in a 'Vair, so it's a Duece motor.

Darn, John beats me again. I was trying to figure out what year Flint went from F to V, and John slipped in.

L-6's were always "F" (Flint Motor Plant - that's all they built there); Flint V-8 plant is the one that changed from "F" to "V" in '67 to eliminate the confusion for warranty claim processing.

According to your VIN 124378N458862, it was originally a V8. There are a lot of other clues to look at to figure out which V8 it MAY have had.
