Careful here.
All 1969 Camaro 4-speed shifter mechanisms are the same. That is the assembly with chrome handle as shown in the photo. On the assembly line there were 3 application possibilities for a shifter each with its own unique hardware consisting of mounting plate, linkage rods, levers, upper & lower column lock rods and swivel. Saginaw: upper column lock rod and swivel same as 3-speed & all auto, all else Saginaw only Muncie small-block: lower lock rod, mounting plate and linkage rods are sb only. Levers, swivel & upper lock rod Muncie only. Muncie big-block: lower lock rod, mounting plate and linkage rods are bb only. Levers, swivel & upper lock rod same as sb Muncie. Many people believe there were different chrome handles with or without console. There is no reason to believe that. There is a vitually identical chrome handle that is about 1" taller, maybe for Firebird. Firebird may also share some of the other pieces. Now you know why complete bb '69 shifters bring crushing prices. |

On the 69 Camaro Hurst shifters I think the first number is the month and the second number is the year. 68 and 69 Firebird used the same shifter body and lever but Pontiac used less digits in their ID code. I posted a bunch of 69 Hurst shifter numbers on a thread in the tag team section awile back. You may still be able to find the thread in a search.

I've got a friend who is very knowledgeable regarding 69s. He claims that not only are non-console shifters a little taller, but they also angle toward the driver side a little more. He has shown me a couple he thinks are original. However, I have never seen anything in the AIM or anywhere else to back this up.
I have not proof, but I agree with William....they're the same. |

The Hurst stick has a part number on the end that is pressed into the shifter body so the handle has to be removed to read it. There are many different Hurst round handle sticks but I have only seen one number used for the 69 Camaro all applications. I have seen some handles that appear to be a different shape because people bend them to fit an incorrect installation or because the incorrect shifter mount plate was used. It is best to check by the number.

Hey guys....my shifter also shows a code, 19D510. Not sure if it's a date code or supplier code. The AIM and the Parts and Service book show only one "Lever and Bracket Assy" for all 4 speed 69's. This tells me they are all the same, 69's anyway.
