Question I have a hip problem...

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys,

I was cutting my pampas grass down yesterday and bent over sideways at the hip ever so slightly and now the indent I have in my lower back at my left hip hurts like H-LL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It actually feels better when I stick my finger in the indent and push hard!!!!

I can hardly move!

What the heck did I do AND what do I do about it??????

Have you thought about seeing a doctor?

Cool Re: I have a hip problem...

I would recomend if your not allergic to this med.(3) ea. of 200 mg or (1) ea. 600 mg of Ibuprofen but not on an empty stomach..Rest, and by all means always lay on your back when you are going to sleep. Drink alot of water..

Unhappy Re: I have a hip problem...

Buck,

I had this happen back about 1998 or so while working on my old-man Buddy neighbor's yard with my Son and I went to the E-room and all the guy did was give me some pain pills and a muscle relaxer!

He didn't machine check me or nothing!

Is this all there is to this crap b/c I gotta say, it's gonna be h-ll getting older and falling apart like this...

I can hardly get out of a chair...................... And I consider myself as tough as nails!!!!!!!! But when I have to gasp to move, no way!!!!!!!!

At least find a good Chiropractor, I had to see one Friday, same kind of thing. There’s some plates and bones that swivel and have a tendency to get stuck when they rotate all the way back and really hurt when they won’t move....

I think I will look up a good DO instead of a C.

Heck, maybe my wood hippy Buddy, Doc can help me out before I do?

I do remember when we first moved over to MO my Dad having exteme back pains fronm packing a water-heater down into a basement and he went to an old man C. Dr. that lived in an absolute shack at the east edge of Atlanta, MO back then.

He went back to Champaign to his regular back Dr. and his back Dr. asked the name of who my Dad was seeing and his Dr, said that the old man Dr. living in the shack was one of the founders of KOH in Kirksville, MO!!

A noted world wide expert back then to say the least and who woulda thought him living in a shack in Atlanta, MO...

I want to say his name was Dr. Platte??? But it's been years and years....

Paul stop playing down at the rail yard! That's what the switch engines are for, let them move the cars!

Seriously get checked out, don't let it go too long. I had a pain in my right calf the week before Christmas, kept hurting a little more each day. Being a typical male I thought I'd just work through it, figured it was a muscle and I always put off going to the doctor. Finally go in and on the 23rd doctor gave me a Rx for a muscle but says "even though it isn't swollen or warm to go over to the hospital and get an ultrasound as soon as I leave his office". He explained he just lost a 23 year old healthy patient to a blood clot that had moved into the lungs. A hospital is the last place I wanted to go to, seems we've "lived" at hospitals the last two years at my house. Turned out there are some deep vein blood clots from a self induced motorcycle injury that didn't heal right. Apparently these are pretty common in the calves. I was a week from being on a plane to Italy. I'm sure glad I got it checked, I'll be happier in June when I'm off the medication for it. Perfect choresterol, great blood pressure, no family history of any blood type problems, been hurt a lot worse than the injury I had, gone through some surgeries in the past and no problem until now. You just don't know what kind of curve ball is coming down the pipe from day to day. All in all pretty minor compared to what my wife and kids have faced the past two years, just one more inconvience to deal with. I'm fine, but I learned not to procrastinate when it comes to how I feel.

To everyone if you experience pain in your calves when walking or drawing your toes upward and you haven't just gone through your first day at hockey practice get it checked out! Left untreated the clot can continue to get worse to where tissue can die or if it comes loose and ends up in the brain can cause a stroke or death if it blocks the flow of blood through the lungs. Don't dismiss it!

Sounds muscular or skeletal but please get it checked out buddy. Keep us informed.

Thumbs up Re: I have a hip problem...

AC,

58 years young!

But I've road myself hard and put myself away wet many a day and I figure it is coming back to haunt me in my old-age.

It probably hurt me more than the small amount of money I made packing furnitiure for almost 18 months before life turned around for me and I got a job with the State. But I figure I needed to do whatever it took to help pay our bills after the deal with the old Firebrick Plant........ I do know the Refractory Plastic gunning and refractory castable pumping I was doing for them was beating me to death so had to make a change regardless.

Good point about the clots b/c Dad had some "Phlebitis" in one leg if that is the word for clots in the legs before he left us. But Dad worked like a dog all his life that Mom told me about.

Thanks, SY1, (AND everybody else), I'm going to the Dr. ASAP.

This is slightly off topic but, for anyone who has chronic aches and pains, I would highly recommend a Tempur-Pedic mattress!! I'm 55, have some arthritis in my knees, elbows, hands, and neck. I would get up in the morning and limp around for 5 mins. or so. I'm always in some pain but have learned to live with it. We bought a Tempur-Pedic mattress a few weeks ago, what a difference! Daytime aches and pains are less severe, and I don't limp around when I first get up. They are a bit pricey, a little less than 2k, but well worth the investment...and no, I don't work for Tempur-Pedic!
