The top fear both men and women have while driving is getting lost.
That's the word from Fodor's Road Guides USA, the publishers of those popular travel guides. Fully 43 percent of those surveyed said getting lost is their No. 1 travel mishap worry. Even men were worried about getting lost! Specifically, 37 percent of men were nervous about getting lost, compared with 46 percent of women. So why is it men won't ask for directions? Fodor's has a theory and stated it this way in the news release announcing the survey results: "If 37 percent of men surveyed admitted to a fear of getting lost, could it be that the other 63 percent of men do get lost, but won't ask for directions and won't even admit they're lost?" What else do we fear when we travel on the road? According to the survey: 27 percent worry they'll lock their keys in the car. 24 percent fear they'll run out of gas. 3 percent admit they worry about forgetting where they parked. 3 percent worry about not having enough money for the toll booth. Maybe what we should be worried about is having a car crash. Nine out of 10 motorists will be involved in at least one road accident in their lifetime, according to a report published by the British automobile insurer, More Than. The majority of accidents involve a collision between two or more vehicles, although one-third are small bumps and scrapes.

I don't worry about getting lost. I'm a truck driver and we don't ever get lost, we just find longer ways to get there. I worry most about driving one of my old muscle cars and one of these idiots who don't know what yeild means, or how to megre, or don't know what the right of way is and how to yeild it, will take off the front sheetmetal. Turn signals are not options that you don't need.

Getting smashed by a Mack truck? LOL! I don't know, I am usually not too scared driving. That's the one place I am most calm. Crank the tunes and hammer down. Except when I am in a big city I don't know very well. I usually just get angry though.

It depends on what I'm driving. In my truck about the only thing that worries me is stupid people.
But in my car now that's another matter. If I just hopped it up with something new or changed something I worry about breaking down. Otherwise the only other thing I worry about is getting tickets.

Maybe not fear so much as amazement is the 20 year old girl in the little red car doing 90 MPH during rush hour while she puts her make-up on.

My fear or concern is the lack of ability and concentration of other drivers.I was hit head on in 85 by a drunk lady she and her passenger didnt hardly get a scratch I ate the windshield and couldnt talk for a couple of days from where my throat hit the steering wheel,no air bags, and no seat belt, yes I know its my fault then BUT I still dont wear a seatbelt.

hmmm.... well I can think of a few things I DON'T worry about:
getting lost_____ is fun. Before kids, my wife and I would take long backroad drives thru the country side, leave the map at home... it was a game, see how lost we could get then find our way back. Running out of gas_____ is another game for me., one my wife doesn't enjoy. How far can I stretch this tank? Can I burn all but a half gallon before stopping?

Fodder is derived from an old english word "Fodor" here's the definition:
Pronunciation: 'fä-d&r Function: noun Etymology: Middle English, from Old English fOdor; akin to Old High German fuotar food -- more at FOOD 1 : something fed to domestic animals; especially : coarse food for cattle, horses, or sheep 2 : inferior or readily available material used to supply a heavy demand <routine entertainment fodder> <fodder for tabloids>
