What do you think is a good price for an 89 Iroc Camaro.
Newer Black Paint, no scratches, (factory like finish) correct decals, HardTop, 350, Leather, power seats, newer tires, 110,000 miles. Motor rebuilt 10-20,000 miles ago. Car was dyno'd after rebuild 217.6 Rear wheel horsepower. The only thing I don't like about it, the rear window/spoiler aren't alligned perfectly. The owner tried to convince me that was typical for Iroc's. I have never noticed it before. Any input on this would be appreciated!

$2500- you know the car has been beat- it IS and IROC, or at least the stickers say so- and that "fresh" rebuilt engine might not have ever been "rebuilt".

I love the car, but they are asking $8,000.00 firm. Don't know that I can force myself to pay that. Although I have seen a lot of them sell for $5,000 on Ebay. I am trying to convince myself that if I paid 5,000 for one on Ebay and then rebuilt the motor or repainted it, I would have close to the asking price in it. I am looking for something to drive around for fun.

Eight THOUSAND dollars for 17 year old 3rd Gen? I paid $3000 for my first '68 Camaro back in '85.
I love the IROC's as much as the next guy and still wish I had my '86, but IMHO I would pass on the deal. If it was an original, mint, unmolested car it MIGHT be a different story for that kind of money. I would also run a Carfax on the VIN, run the VIN and RPO codes in the console through the decoder at www.thirdgen.org Last edited by CFunK; Jan 27th, 06 at 05:50 PM. |

Well, I am seeing a trend here. Unfortunately that has been my gut feeling too. Just thought I could talk myself into it.

I wouldn't pay 8 grand(even if I had it). I see plenty of IROC-Z's around here for as little as $1000 bucks. But I haven't seen the one you are talking about.Don't be discouraged, Chevy made tons of 'em. Check out www.thirdgen.org and you will see some trends on prices.

Like Levi said......There are plenty of IROCs still out there. I tried to sell mine a few years back for $5000.00 with no takers and the car is real Cherry looking. You can find a better deal out there, just keep your eyes open.

My brother owns a 87 Iroz Z 25th Ann. Its got 92k and I think every possible option. L98 350, Tops, Special Sound System, Overhead etc.. He paid $2500 for it at a Dealers Only auction, but he has been offered $6000 for it. It depends alot on if it has seen winter, and the condition of the drivetrain when they get close to 100k ( or over ). If the dash wiggles some, its been harped on. Those cars are either real tight and well kept, or they arent. I havent seen much in between.

Yeah but youre talkin about An IrocZ, which is now getting close to a collecters car. When you modify a car like that, the value goes down rapidly. I would rather pay 5K for an all original Iroz with 100k, then a 80K Iroc that has been modified moderatly or heavily.
